Xbox 360 - Fallout 3 complete (+ DLC)
Also,Before i start.
A big thanks to Naughtydogmania,
Who's layout is what i based this review on.
As it was easy to read and well set out.
thought i might as well base my review in the same way (should be made the default review layout)
So thanks for you hard work on the review for Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
and hope you enjoy the review.
Well for my first review here i choose one of my favorite games.
Fallout 3.
I will be reviewing the game on xbox 360 as a stand alone,And then the DLC (operation Ancourage,The Pitt and Broken Steel)
STORY
Fallout 3 is a restricted 18 game due to the large amount of violence,Strong language and gore.
Set in the year 2277 after the war which ravaged the world into nuclear holocaust.
You play a single character who takes on the trials and dangers of the Wasteland,After leaving his home for the past 19 years the Vault.
The main concept of the game is survival in the largely inhospitable wasteland of former Washington DC,
Completing quests and helping characters is the name of the game here as you make your way around the huge area.
The area itself is populated heavily with all manner of strange warped being from raiders and wastelanders to huge hulking super mutants and their "pet" centaurs. making your way from point A to point B can be a perilous task especially on higher difficulties without the use of some handy hardware.
Anyways without revealing to much of the story it's pretty damn good and pulls you in to playing to find out what happens next.
Anyone got an aspirin?
Fallout 3 graphics are cause some arguments for many people.
one side loves the gritty looks of the wasteland and the way it is portrayed.
the other side hates it, commenting that it's all mostly gray and brown and not much else.
Well to be honest i can see where both are coming from but will post my view here.
Fallout 3's graphics are great.
it looks sharp and does what it needs to well.
the textures aren't amazing in some places but with an area so large that can't be faulted.
the particle effects and explosions look particular violent when grenade or rockets are hitting a target spraying dust and blood around the area.
Bethesda do a great job on lighting as well,
Not surprising as lighting has always been a strong point of the developers arsenal.
Over all i feel the graphics are excellent.
A huge improvement over oblivion (the last game Bethesda worked on)
Both the world textures,Objects,Weapons and people.
Taking into account the massive area of the game that streams continuously with no load,
Fallout 3 scores high here
Where's my car dude?
Fallout 3 sound is pretty much perfect.
Every person is voiced and every weapons sounds great.
Explosions,Bullet impacts all the way down to the sounds of pain from the enemy (and you) are spot on.
Do you have some moisturizer i could borrow?
Fallout 3 gameplay is..... well.
It's perfect!
I can't fault it in anyway.
The combat system in real time is responsive.
Using V.A.T.S is a great addition to the game and adds a lot of strategy options to the combat,
Allowing you to cripple limbs,Shoot weapons from enemies hands or just blow there head off whichever is your style.
The leveling system works well with the points allocation and perk system being well balanced to create a great character without too much planning,to go forward and enjoy the game.
but the end of the game depending on the difficulty level you should reach the max level (20) and be force to be reckoned with.
using your weapons of choice to reek havoc on your foes.
on harder levels you will still need to watch out as you will die if you get to cocky with your approach to battles.
all in all gameplay is also an almost perfect affair.
not much that could be improved.
The time i took for fallout 3 was around 50 hours.
this was looking everywhere,
doing all the side quests,
collection all bobbleheads.
and picking up rare weapons.
DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT
This section is my thoughts and views on the downloadable content and the stuff is adds to the game.
i will review each DLC after talking about on how much i feel it adds to the game based on play time and extra content (weapons and armor etc..)
Operation Ancourage lets you play an simulation of the American liberation of Ancourage,Alaska from the invading Chinese troops. i has 3 missions and takes roughly 2-3 hours.
you gain a perk for collection all intel (wired reflexes)
and also gain a weapons storage room after completing the mission which gives you several great weapons.
* Gauss Rifle
* Trench Knife
* Chinese Stealth Armor
* Winterized T-51b Power Armor
* Jingwei's Shock Sword
* Neural Interface Suit
* Outcast Specialist Robe
Overall i would give it 7/10
good addition but not great.
The pitt takes the player to a slave camp in an area called the pitt.
It takes place in the same time frame as the main story in an new area off map in Pittsburgh. (Pittsburgh) you see
It takes about 2-3 hours if you just go through the story but around 4-6 if your looking for all the ingots which nets you new armor and weapons.
The list of addition is as follows.
Weapons.
* Auto Axe
* The Infiltrator
* Man Opener
* The Mauler
* Perforator
* Metal Blaster
* Steel Knuckles
* Steel Saw
* Wild Bill's Sidearm
Armor.
* Ashur's Power Armor
* Bombshell Armor
* Filtration Helmet
* Gamma Shield Armor
* Hat of the People
* Laborer Outfit
* Leather Rebel
* Metal Master Armor
* Raider Iconoclast Armor
* Raider Commando Armor
* Raider Throwdown Armor
* Raider Ordinance Armor
* Raider Paingiver Armor
* Supervisor Helmet
* Tattered Slave Outfit
* Tribal Power Armor
* Worn Slave Outfit
* Welder's Mask
Perks.
* Booster Shot
* Pitt Fighter
* Auto Axpert
The Pitt also adds new enemies to the game.
including Trogs which are heavily irradiated humans.
new enemies are:
* Trog
* Wildmen
* Pitt Raider
* Slave Fighter
Overall a great little story and great fun to play.
nets you a large amount of gear and weapons so this one is a must have.
9/10
BROKEN STEEL
Broken steel takes place after the main story and lets you continue your game as the wasteland wanderer.
it also adds new weapons,New enemies.new armor,new perks but most of all.
increases your level cap to 30.
30!!
The broken steel story line takes roughly 4-5 hours going everywhere and looking into the new area added to the maps.
and those 10 more levels will take a while to get as the the growth in exponential but the game is so good whats the harm in playing it some more.
also with the higher level cap is the broken steel story line which is as usual amazing.
which see's you clearing the wasteland of those pesky enclave once and for all.
and taking the fight right to the heart of the enclave base in the area.
Broken steel is by far the best DLC so far adding a whole bunch of stuff.
Armor
* All-Nighter Nightwear
* Composite Recon Helmet
* Enclave Hellfire Armor
* Lag-Bolt's Shades
* Lag-Bolt's Combat Armor
* Police Hat
* Wig
Weapons
* Callahan's Magnum
* Heavy Incinerator
* Precision Gatling Laser
* Rapid-Torch Flamer
* Slo-Burn Flamer
* Tesla Cannon
* Tri-Beam Laser Rifle
It also adds 14 new perks to play with for the 10 new levels you will advance.
Broken steel is a Must have for any 360 or PC owner is increases the play time considerably with the increased level caps and the perks and pretty interesting as well.
Broken steel gets a well deserved.
10/10
Well that's it from me and my review of fallout 3
hope you enjoyed it

Re: Xbox 360 - Fallout 3 complete (+ DLC)
Holy crap!
It sure is an Awesome Review
I do have the game (PS3 version) but I haven't tried it yet since I got 3 or 4 games to play... since Fallout is very big compared to the others I'll leave it for last.
After reading your review I am even more pissed with the PS3 version for not having the DLC... it's not fair
I'm even more anxious to play the game ^^
Re: Xbox 360 - Fallout 3 complete (+ DLC)
The DLC reviews are small because the DLC compared to the game are small lol
It's a very well written review. Once again, nice job

Re: Xbox 360 - Fallout 3 complete (+ DLC)
I've seen a lot of videos of this game, and somehow can't seem to like it, dunno why, maybe its the environment.
Still the gameplay caught my attention and after hearing so many good things about it I felt I needed to try it out so I ordered it, and will probably give you guys my personal opinion on friday.
About the review, it's really good and made me want to try it even more, keep up the nice work!

Enigma you said how much time it would take to finish Operation Ancourage and The Pitt but you didn't say anything about The Broken Steel or about the game without the dlc's and I got curious, can you add that to the review?
Thanks!

Re: Xbox 360 - Fallout 3 complete (+ DLC)
Finally someone posts a request...
I just didn't understand one thing... you want to ask if the game's cool without the DLC's? I think he made a review about the game without the DLC's and then he reviewed the DLC's separately...

I'm asking about the time needed to finish the retail game, and the time needed to finish The Broken Steel, also I just noticed that in the Broken Steel Armor section there are 2 "Enclave Hellfire Armor", it can either be a mistake or two different armors with the same name, just notifying so you can correct/explain (in case there are two armors with the same name).

Re: Xbox 360 - Fallout 3 complete (+ DLC)
About the correction I can't help (maybe you should send enigma a PM to notify him)
From what I've heard the game takes at least 20 hours (only doing the main story) and a lot more hours to the side missions (I don't know how much but not less than 40)

Re: Xbox 360 - Fallout 3 complete (+ DLC)
I'll PM him later on, about both things since my question about the time needed is something I think he should put in the review.
