I would say perhaps change t he layout of the introductions.
as all the topics in the "team awesomeness" section go onto the portal main page as it's set to the default news area.

You should keep this channel locked for news and updates for the whole forum to take note of.
at the minute you could post something important ( like downtime for instance) and it could be lost in a sea of introductions and such without many people noticing.

make a welcoming section including the intro thread and keep the Team Awesomeness section for news that will go onto the main page.

This will make it easier for the new members to introduce themselves and there for get into being active members of the community.

Already you have 17 members but 6 of them haven't even posted yet,
i know it's early days but you want to get the ball rolling on the process quickly.

Well at least that is what I've picked up from running a few forums back in the day Razz

Remember that the forum is still in the beginning, was created for a short time.
Over the days the forum will have more members and more posts.
As the forum is growing for a while will be well.
When we have more members, we change some things.

is not changing the fact that 17 members and 6 non active?
that's 1/3 of the current members inactive.

yes i know that "its only young" and that it's only been up for 2 days but that won't change if it's 2 days or 2 months.

I'm trying to help as I've ran forums before and it's not as easy as you might think.
to make it successful you need some structure and you need things to be organized.
threads need to be easy to find,
and the forum needs to be easy to navigate.
at the minute all the games in the main forum.
these in my opinion should be in a main forum called : Games,
Each game should then fall under a sub-forum.
It makes it for people to know where something is.
if you think everytime a game gets a forum then its going to be added to the main page.
after some time your main page is going to become a huge mess of threads.

keeping the team awesomeness thread to a news thread will make the front page (portal) look a lot more organized as at the minute it's just a wedge of random thread with nothing that would draw anyone that saw the front page in.

also not at the minute as obvious it's only 2 days old but you might want to think about some kind of competitions in the future.
Sig of the week.
tournaments on popular games.

Just create a winners thread and perhaps a group title or something.

I'm not trying to be condescending or patronizing but i've done this before i and know what works (and what doesn't).

Enigma is right. Organization is everything!
I think it'll better if you had a "Games" forum instead of the current "systems" forum, because some of the games that we might talk about aren't exclusives. And we won't be doing 2 topics about AC2...
That's my idea... I can create a topic about Assassin's creed. I could Talk about the first game (even do a review) and then i could post news about the upcoming game to keep everyone in team awesomeness informed... It's an idea...
Same could be done to Uncharted, and other games. It depends on my time Razz

It's actually a good idea.

  • Now Playing
  • Recent and New Releases

About the recommendation... Reviews are a recommendation but if you want a larger amount of games... then:

  • Hottest Games

And an offtopic forum would be cool with sub forums such as:

  • Manga / Comic Books
  • Movies / Series
  • Music

I think we should make an offtopic forum to keep the members posting. Sometimes there's just nothing to reply to, so if we want the members to keep posting we should have something like this...

From my experience in forums, just like it's been said, organization is everything, and in that sense, your biggest flaw is the Armed Assault and Fallout 3 topics in the main forum, those should be inside the Games forum. But then you've got that one divided by systems, and multiplatform games rise another problem. You can use those sub-forums for exclusives only, like 360's Fable and Sony's Killzone...it's just an idea but don't know if it's actually a good one Neutral

I like the Now Playing idea as well as one to talk about what we think of upcoming games.

As for the Offtopic, well, no forum is a forum without Offtopic xD

Also, about all that Enigma has said, he's just right.

You see canibalimao?
I told you so. DX confirms my thought... Having ArmA and Fallout outside the Games forum is ridiculous... it's like you're paying more attention to those games...
THAT'S NOT FAIR! xd

Did you say create a Forum in the main page called Events and then the sub forums would be for example E3 or GDC?

Well there are some...
E3
GDC
TGS

Comic-con (it has somethings about games)

They're just a bunch but it sure has a lot of information. I think it should be in an independent forum

well if you just want it to be in the news part its ok with me, but E3 is E3 so it has to have a sub forum...
But I was thinking to put it in the main menu so it could be like this.

HOME
...|--------> E3
...................|--------> (one game) GOW III
...................|--------> (you got the idea) ...

...................|--------> Conclusions on 2009's E3 (includes release dates, games announced, new hardware, everything important)

I've got another idea:!:

What about a Downloads Section in the main menu?

There we could post game soundtracks, some free games (and others Rolling Eyes if possible)

cough I have uploaded Street Fighter III: Third Impact with emulator to MegaUpload.com cough

I would just take those away! Why? Very simple!
It's an overload of topics that can all be resumed by a simple "OFF TOPIC" part. For those game stuff you have the "GAME" topic -.-' Manga and that stuff would be on the off topic part.I still have to decide with the other admin's if we should do that...
I was thinking of taking out that no point team awesomeness topic... Have to think about it first Smile
