Bohemia Interactive announces ARMA 2

ArmA 2 is set in a near future, year 2009, in a fictional post soviet country Chernarus. Players will be sent as members of United States Marine Corpse Force Recon squad to this area to prevent further civilian casualties and ensure ongoing stability in Chernarus.

Arma 2 is based on the latest generation technology, offering large –scale game world, authentic and extremely detailed modern units, weapons, vehicles and environments, challenging single player and vast array of multiplayer options.

ArmA 2 is expected to be released in 2008. Full game website will be available soon at ArmA 2

Here is the info, some new some we already know:
- ArmA2 is "Game2".
- Release: 2008 (target).
- The campaign is set in Eatern Europe, back to the roots.
- The island will be very detailled. The forrests will have many different vegatations.
- In the presentation the viewdistance was 15 km. It seemed to run without any problem on the used system:
Core2Duo, 3GB Ram, Geforce 8 (not sure which one)- The AI should be much improved but still it has some troubles.

With the editor we made a small test, 2 opposing squads were made walking in a town towards a crossing. The road usage has been improved a lot but still one of the soldiers walks right to the middle of the crossing and doesnt spot the opposing squad right in front of him.
- The new island should be twice as big as Sahrani.
- The tracers were copied from VBS2.
- Physics have been improved but still not at the same level as todays FPS's since in arma there just are so many different objects.

If i get this it will be on the 360...

I'll be picking it up on 360 as well
going to be setting up a little clan for some operations now and then
i would love to get it for PC but without a new computer it will run even worse the Arma.
and could be just as unoptimized as well.
until i get a new PC this will be staying firmly on my 360 list along with OFP 2

Don't you like the OFP2, graphics memory of Colin McRae (must be to Ralli with helicopters), the images are Photoshop, the films also improved the photoshop. And there will not civilians (the excuse them, it is the civilians fled the island)
The ArmA2 the movies and images that are in game, have done many shows in-game footage, while not OFP2

i played OFP from the start
I played arma from the start (the utter mess that it was on release)
I'll play Arma II when it comes out
and i'll play OFP2 when it comes out.

i like mor ArmA2

and that is your opinion which i respect.

i however am saying that i will keep my mind open instead of jumping on either band wagon.

i'll buy both and play both then decide upon which is the best.

It's a war simulator that is not very popular but is pretty nice! It's neat
